The Studio

Claysita is a communal studio that provides beginners, seasoned ceramists and fine artists a shared work environment to experiment and focus on individual projects.

As a ceramic workspace Claysita welcomes all individuals with an interest in ceramics whether the objective be fine art, functional design or decorative in nature.

As one of the few remaining former small homes (Casita) located in the light industrial area of Boyle Heights in East Los Angeles Claysita was converted from the ground up into communal ceramic studio to be shared with the Los Angeles community.

The Origin Story

Claysita began with a simple but ambitious vision. In 2023, the property was acquired in its original condition and reimagined from the ground up. What followed was a complete transformation: over 2,000 square feet of poured concrete workspace, entirely new electrical and plumbing systems, and the infrastructure necessary to support high-temperature kilns and ceramic production.

With its rare commercial zoning, the site offered a unique opportunity. Rather than a private studio, it became something more expansive—an open, communal space dedicated to making.

Claysita was built to serve the Los Angeles creative community: a place where artists at all levels can work, experiment, and share knowledge. Every surface, system, and tool reflects that intention—to support not just individual practice, but a collective one.
